Cascade comes with a professionally designed collection of pre-made "sections" for your website. These are sections that you can add to your pages, which feature professional designs already built-in. This includes header sliders, carousels, header styles, and the various content sections you saw in the demo.
These sections are called Blocks. To add Blocks to your Weebly website, you need to use the Page Builder tool to first assemble your pages, and then import your desired page layout into Weebly. Page Builder can be accessed by pressing the red "Page Builder" button in the upper right hand corner.
What on Earth is Page Builder?
Page Builder is an optional drag ‘n drop add-on tool that comes with Cascade, giving you an extra degree of design freedom by allowing you to create your very own unique advanced page layouts in ways that would not be possible in Weebly alone. With Page Builder, we are bypassing Weebly’s built-in limitations to give you more control over your website.
Page Builder is its own separate website outside of Weebly, accessible by clicking the Page Builder button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It should be noted that it’s not necessary to use Page Builder if you don’t need that extra degree of layout control—you can use Cascade without needing to use Page Builder.
Page Builder is especially useful for web designers who use Weebly + Cascade to build websites for clients. It gives you a powerful way to rapidly assemble production-ready pages while maintaining a high-level perspective on aesthetics and usability.
Prior to using Page Builder, we strongly recommend visiting the Page Builder tutorial for Cascade. While Page Builder is very easy to use, it’s important to know the workflow.
Page Builder “augments” Cascade. While we have more in-depth tutorials on how to use Page Builder, the general workflow is this:
In Page Builder, you first assemble your ideal page layout, by dragging and dropping the professionally-designed pre-built sections in the arrangement you prefer.
When you’re happy with your page design, you press “Publish” which generates the page code for you.
You copy the code, then go to Weebly HTML/CSS editor for your site. You create a new header type, name it whatever you want, and paste the code there.
Finally, you apply that header type to any page you prefer. This applies your Page Builder design on your page. You can now add content like text and images.
Do I Need to Use Page Builder to Use Cascade?
Nope! Page Builder is an optional tool that comes with Cascade. It’s not necessary to use Cascade.
For those who don’t want to use Page Builder, Cascade comes with a variety of built-in page types and page layouts/designs, such as the homepage layout design you saw in the demo.
To apply, all you have to do is click on a Page in the Weebly Pages menu, then click on the “header type” dropdown, and select the page layout you want from the dropdown. If you see a hyphen followed by a number (i.e pureslider-8, that just means 8 slides).
However, to make the most out of your Cascade theme, we recommend using PageBuilder to quickly assemble gorgeous page styles and import them into Weebly.
