How to Update Your Luminous Theme

As our customer, you will often receive updates to your Luminous theme via email. These updates include bug fixes, features, and more improvements to your theme. Updating your theme is very easy. Here's how you do it.

IMPORTANT: Updating your theme involves installing a fresh new version of the Oxygen theme over your current site. While all of your Weebly content (including your existing pages and content) will be transferred over, any custom code will be deleted. If you edited the HTML/CSS of the Oxygen theme, be sure to backup your changes and re-apply them after you install the theme. Alternatively, you can contact us and we will tell you how to apply the critical bug fixes in an update yourself without having to update. We also recommend backing up your current theme installation by going into the HTML/CSS editor and clicking on the "export theme" button.

How to Update Your Theme Installation:

Updating your Weebly theme follows the same instructions as installing it for the first time.

Step 1: Download the update

You should have received an email from us containing a .zip file. This file includes the updated theme. Download it and save it to your computer.

Step 2: Extract the .zip file

Extract the downloaded .zip file. Inside, you should see the same stuff you saw when you first downloaded the theme. This includes a few .PDF's, as well as a folder called "upload me." Inside the "upload me" folder lies the updated theme. Keep this in mind to prevent accidentally uploading the wrong file!

Step 3: Go to your Weebly Editor. Click on "Change Theme"

Open up your Oxygen-running website in the Weebly editor. Click on the "Theme" tab and click on "Change Theme."

Step 4: Click on "Import Theme" (in the upper righthand corner).

This is similar to what you did when you first installed the theme.

Step 5: Find your theme update folder. Open it up. Then open the "upload me" folder and upload the .zip that is inside of the "upload me" folder.

Make sure you upload the .zip that's inside the "upload me" folder.

That's it! You've updated your theme installation. After you upload the theme, give Weebly about a minute and you'll be redirected back to the Weebly editor. If you'd like to verify that you're running the most updated version, go to the HTML/CSS editor, and look at the "theme name" (in the upper left-hand corner). It should be the theme name followed by a number. That number is the version number. For example, if you see Oxygen3, it means you're running Oxygen Version 3.0.
