Having Trouble Signing in to Weebly or Square? Here's How to Fix This Common Problem.

Lately, we’ve been hearing lots of reports of Weebly users being unable to sign in to edit their Weebly websites. If you’re having issues signing into Weebly, here’s how to fix this (it’s a little complicated, but we’ll do our best to break it down for you).

Step 1: Weebly Login vs Square Online Login

Most of the issues stem from the fact that, unlike before, there are now two layers of sign-in required.

You might recall that a few months ago, Weebly urged users to create a Square account and merge their Weebly accounts with Square Online.

While this doesn’t change anything concerning your website, this change means that Weebly users now have two sets of credentials required to login.

First, Weebly has you login to your Weebly account, then you get taken to a separate Square sign-in portal to login to your Square online account. After completing these two steps, you enter the Weebly website dashboard, where you can edit your website.

For most people, their Weebly login and Square login information should be the same.

But if something went wrong during your Square account creation, then you likely have two sets of log-in accounts. A Weebly login, and a Square login.

How to solve: first determine if you’re unable to make it through the Weebly login screen, or the Square online login screen.

Here’s what the Weebly login page looks like:

A screenshot of the Weebly login form, showing a blank email input.

After entering your email on this Weebly login page, you should be taken to the Square login page, which looks like this:

A screenshot of the Square Online form, which the user goes to after entering the Weebly login. The Square online form has an Email Address and Password field.

If you made it to this second Square login page, it means you have the right email address, but the password is wrong, and you have a Square account. At this point, you should click the Forgot Password link.

Now, let’s say you entered your email on the first Weebly login screen, and instead of directing you to the second Square account screen, it simply asked for your password like this:

A screenshot of the second version of the Weebly login field where a new password field appeared after the user typed in their email address.

If that’s the case, then the system does not “see” your email address in the square database. This means that you either did not create a Square Online account, or you entered the wrong email.

At this point, I would recommend you search your email inbox to see if there was an email that you may have missed from Weebly informing you to create your Square Online account. That email should contain a link to create an account.

After doing so, you should be able to log in normally.

Step 2). Can’t Sign in to the Square Online screen? Try Signing in Again with the Exact Same Credentials

The Square Online sign in form can be quite glitchy at times, and we’ve noticed this ourselves.

When you first enter your email and password, and click on Log In, it might not do anything. That’s because it will make you do a Captcha, which should appear after attempting to log-in first.

Some people will think that they entered the wrong email or password because it didn’t go through. But in reality, it’s simply the fact that the system determined a Captcha is needed.

So, don’t change the email and password you entered the first time. Simply solve the captcha, and try logging in again.

If you don’t see the Captcha pop up…

Step 3). Try Incognito Mode

Because of this dual-tiered login system, cookies and other pre-existing browser content can interfere with the login process.

That’s why you should try to login to both Weebly and Square through Incognito mode in your browser.

Sometimes, accessing the sign in from a non-Incognito browser can cause the Captcha to fail to appear, leading to not being able to sign in.

Conclusion

As you can see, the Square-Weebly login system has become more complicated than it needs to be. I hope these solutions worked, as I know how frustrating it can be. If you’re still unable to login, I’d recommend reaching out to either Weebly or Square support. Hint: you’ll probably experience a quicker response time by reaching out to Square Online support, and telling them you’re on Weebly.
